Abstract

An essay is presented which focuses on Katherine Philips's literary influence in Wales. It evaluates the ways an attention to the geographical spaces that her retirement inhabited as a writer shifting one's understanding of her work and her significance in literary history. It tackles on how the concept of material spaces inform the discursive spaces of Philips' poetry, including the one which explores the theme of retirement.
