Abstract
The devolution settlement for Wales creates the unique situation of a bilingual legislature operating within a monolingual legal system. This raises serious questions regarding the operation of statutory interpretation by the appellate courts. This article, therefore, seeks to explain the challenges that arise and the approaches that may be taken in order to resolve them.
