Abstract

Across Wales, ‘Hwb Doeth’ (tr. ‘wisdom hub’) has been set up by the Welsh Centre for Crime and Social Justice to join up academia and youth justice practice across the nation (of Wales). As well as operating on a national level, there are also regional hubs which facilitate close working relationships ‘on the ground’ of youth justice. As Chair of the Dyfed Powys Hwb Doeth group, I have helped to develop a strong reciprocal relationship between Aberystwyth University and the four Dyfed Powys Youth Offending Teams. This has facilitated such activities as student placements, research, practitioner lectures and research-informed YOT training. As a means of expedited embedding of research into practice, such relationships are crucial.
