The Methuen Drama Anthology of Testimonial Plays

Alison Forsyth (Editor)

Research output: Book/ReportScholarly edition

This anthology will not only showcase plays based on testimony by well established playwrights, but also new and hitherto unknown artists. The volume will not only comprise 6-8 testimonial plays, but also material which reflects the distinctive approaches employed by dramatists in this medium, from a variety of perspectives. The edition will be prefaced by a scholarly introduction by the author (6000 words) and will include interviews, photographs and prefaces by individual authors about their work. The volume reflects the ever growing interest in conveying the "real" and the authentic on stage, and it has grown out of the author's previous long established work on documentary theatre. The volume is international in terms of its content and focus - with plays from Chile, United States, Ireland, UK, Australia, and works based on testimony taken from Cambodia, Pakistan, Afghanistan.
