Abstract
This short film was presented to a small audience after pandemic restrictions were relaxed. The work was made between June and October of 2020 and we were unable to meet in person. Cyrff Ystwyth is a dance theatre group for disabled and non disabled performers. Working with phones and tablets, in isolation, we met on line and worked on themes of home, environment and relationships, moving in solos and distanced duets outdoors. The work meditates on theses themes form a time of distress and anxiety, yet set in the beauty of the welsh rural landscape. This output attends to how vulnerable and isolated people sustained connections through shared commitments and also reveals issues with access to technology, everyday lives and at its core, the deep commitment from each group member to keep going despite our enforced separations and reduced circumstances. Learning disability and community appear in the midst of beauty and isolation at a time of loss.
